Product Review - Sally Girl Sparkle Effects Loose Glitter

Sometimes when I go out I like to dress up really tacky to get attention. This product is perfect for those occasions. At $0.99 it's one of the cheapest cosmetic glitters I've found. According to their website, you can use it in your hair (eek), on your cheekbones, or with your nail polish. I have used it (even though you're not supposed to) on my eyes over a little eyelash adhesive. However you use it, be careful not to get it into your eyes. If it gets in there it can scratch your cornea. This is one of a few products I've tried from the Sally Beauty Sally Girl line. It comes in a little shaker jar and comes in Silver Lining, Gold Digger, Pearly White, Blue Lagoon (blue-green), Luscious Lavender (light purple), Midnight Blue, Princess Pink, Fuschia-Licious (purpley-pink), and Gleaming Green (light green). They have other cosmetics and brushes in this line, all for around $0.99, so try them out. Go here or to your local Sally Beauty Supply store to purchase.

Homemade Body Sugar Scrub

You will need:
White sugar
Brown sugar
Olive oil
Vanilla extract or other essential oil (optional)
Bowl and whisk for mixing
Funnel or measuring cup
Container with lid to hold scrub

To make:
Scrub should be half brown and half white sugar, so figure out how much the container you're using will hold, then measure out equal amounts of the sugars into the bowl. Mix with whisk to combine. Use funnel or measuring cup to transfer sugar into container. Fill it full since the oil will tamp it down. Pour in oil and let it bubble down to the bottom.  You can use a spoon to mix it around and speed up the process. Mix in vanilla or essential oil, if desired. Add more sugar or oil to reach desired consistency.

Make Your Own Pore Strips

You will need:
1 tablespoon unflavored gelatin
1½-2 tablespoons milk (any kind will work)
Microwaveable dish
Popsicle stick or makeup brush to apply

To make:
Measure gelatin into the dish. Add enough milk to form a thick paste. Mix until you get a chunky consistency. Add more milk if needed. Microwave for about 10-15 seconds. Stir and apply immediately to a clean face. Let dry for 15 minutes then peel off.

Product Review - N.Y.C. Sky Rise Lengthening Mascara

Hey loves. I've found a cheap mascara that works just as well as, if not better than, the expensive stuff. It's called Sky Rise Lengthening Mascara from N.Y.C. I got mine at Walmart for $1.72. Yes, that's right. Last week I bought a tube of Lash Blast Lengthening by Covergirl because I got a good deal on it. I tried it on one eye and the Sky Rise on the other. The only difference was the price. Why pay $7 for Covergirl when the cheap shit is just as good? I couldn't tell much difference in their staying power, either. Neither one flaked off during the day. The Lash Blast was a little easier to remove. I would recommend the Sky Rise. If you try it and don't like it, you're only out a couple bucks. I'm pretty sure you'll like it. Anyway, here's a comparison pic. The Covergirl is on the left side of the pic, and the Sky Rise is on the right.

Yes, my lashes are freakishly thin. I wear falsies in public.
